Court Cases

MPs are not legal professionals and we can neither provide legal advice, nor represent a constituent in a legal capacity.

If you are being taken to court or want to take someone else to court, you should seek help from a lawyer as soon as possible. Please also be advised that MPs are not above the law and as such, no matter how much you may disagree with a decision taken by the courts, we have no powers to overturn it.

However, there are certain circumstances in which a MP can ask for clarification from HM Courts and Tribunal Service. Please get in touch about your court case if your lawyer suggests it. If you do not have a lawyer or cannot get access to one, please also get in touch to see if there is anything I can do to help.
