Local campaigner steps up to fight for Stonecot and North Cheam
Following the resignation of another Lib Dem councillor, local campaigner Graham Jarvis has stepped up to fight for local people in Stonecot Ward.
Graham, 43, is a journalist who runs his own business and a former visiting lecturer at Kingston University.
He is a passionate and experienced local campaigner who believes Stonecot needs an independent voice on Sutton Council, not just another Lib Dem adding to their 41 members.
You can read more about Graham and view his campaign in Stonecot as it progresses here.

Dumped cars are a nuisance in any part of Sutton South Ward and irresponsible owners should not be allowed to get away with it.
Today we reported a dumped grey BMW (soft-top) car which has been stationary in Camborne Road for over five weeks now. The tax disc shows that it expired in August.
We do regular street visits to check for local issues, so if you have any issues in your road that we can help you with do let us know on the contact details provided.
Remember, we’re here to help.

After the mammoth effort to halt the planning application in Overton Road we now have to fight the developer’s appeal to the Planning Inspectorate. Council officials and senior Liberal Democrat bosses are so furious that they were beaten, that they are even threatening legal action against Jason Hughes, who spoke at the meeting.
To win again, we, as objectors, need to individually write to the Planning Inspector to give as much weight to the case against the appeal as possible and to stick with the Council’s original decision to refuse permission.
Working together we got the Council’s planning committee to listen to common sense, now we need to make sure the Planning Inspector does too. Please write to him by 26th November, or email at teamp2@pins.gsi.gov.uk (including your full postal address and quoting APP/P5870/A/2184339/NWF) reiterating the following points for him to abide by the original refusal: -
-
The development would result in overdevelopment due to its sheer size, bulk and depth.
-
It would be out-of-character and detrimental to the surrounding area.
-
As a result the two points above, it does not comply with policies BP1 and BP12 of the Council;s Core Plannign Strategy and policy DM1 of the Council’s adopted Site Development Policies DPD.
-
The proposed development would not provide sufficient off-street parking and would lead to an unacceptable increase in parking in the adjoining streets, in an area of low public transport accessibility.
-
It would result in an adverse impact on highway safety and amenities of the adjoining residents, contrary to policy DM22 of the Council’s Site Development Policies DPD.
If you opt for a letter by post, please send them to The Planning Inspectorate, 3/10 Eagle Wing, Temple Quay House, 2 The Square, Temple Quay, Bristol SB1 6PN.
We’re here to help, so if you have any queries please get in contact with us.
